Second Grade is a pinnacle year for students! Not only will they make great strides academically, but each one will grow just as much in faith, as many will receive two sacraments (First Reconciliation and First Communion) before the end of the year.
Students spend a lot of time refining their phonics and writing skills to create writing and reading stamina! Through the Daily 5 model of instruction, students work in small groups to develop language skills at their level to help build essential reading foundations.
Math skills explode in second grade as the students gain a more advanced understanding of equal shares, money, time, regrouping, and begin to learn the foundations of multiplication.
Students grow in faith, leadership, and responsibility and learn to recognize their part in creating a positive classroom environment in preparation for upper elementary.
Second Grade Favorites include: Fun Projects, Reading Buddies, Class Jobs, First Communion, Class Parties, Starting SW CYO sports, and Field Trips.
